Urology of Virginia has provided comprehensive urological care in Hampton Roads for nearly 100 years. Founded in 1922 by Charles Devine, the practice began growing in the 1950s. The practice gained an international reputation for genitourinary reconstructive surgery, developing new surgical techniques to correct urethral strictures and hypospadias that are still used today. In 1965, Urology of Virginia became one of the few private practices in the country to have a residency program. In the 1970s, we were instrumental in helping establish Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk, Virginia, serving as faculty and becoming one of the first established EVMS departments.

SO GLAD I FOUND THIS PLACE! I have interstitial cystitis and am in pretty much constant misery. Had my first appointment a couple of weeks ago and within 1 appointment they have set up and helped more than my other urologists place did in 3 years. I didn’t even know these treatments they’ve offered existed for this horrible condition. Hopefully my procedure tomorrow puts a temporary halt on these symptoms. They even managed to get it scheduled right away! I can’t remember the name of the doctor I saw, but THANK YOU!!!!
Since day one when I was transferred from my previous urologist due to an office matter and this was a Wednesday, Dr Joseph's office saw me Friday that same week. My original surgery was suppose to be Friday but when I met Dr Joseph he introduced himself and didn't hesitate after talking with me to get me on the surgery schedule for Wednesday, 2 days ago. On the day of surgery, Dr White was my anesthesiologist who came in first, great doctor, personable, and was really cool. Then Dr Joseph, who came behind him in my room. He was so cool with a fist bump to mine, lol, laid back and took extremely great care of me. The whole team from what I remember did an excellent job. Thank you Dr Joseph for ridding me of this huge stone and thank you for actually saving my kidney from any damage that would have happened if we didn't do this procedure. Again, thank you and your excellent staff for everything they have done in assisting you and making this all work out. I will see you in June for my follow up and hopefully everything will still look great then like it did this past Wednesday.
Doctor was very nice and very professional. She realized that there was something else I needed to talk about but didn't know how. She asked again very politely if I had any other concerns I had and she addressed them immediately. She was not in a hurry to get me in and out. She seemed more concerned about me than making more money and the number of people she could see and more money she would make.
Dr Sanders is outstanding. After a bit of a chat he made a recommendation to me and I have a followup for further instructions on using the medication. I really appreciate his candidness and of to the show we go. Very hard to get a quality doctor any more as they all seem to be retiring. Thanks for quality service. Lawrence Aguilar
Called and was able to get a same day appt. The person who received my call took the time to find somebody to help resolve our concern. The nurse listened gave suggestions what to do, then gave us an appt. She made us feel my husband mattered. Made us feel we are in good hands, and we were. Very compassionate. Her name is Ai. She lives up to her name.
I always have a good experience at Urology of Virginia. Dr. Williams has been my doctor for several years now and he's the best. The entire staff is always very professional and friendly. They make a difficult and not so great situation seem not so bad. I am thankful I found them.
My father has had to have several appts with Urology of Virginia. They are wonderful! So kind and caring! They want to make sure he is completely cared for and satisfied! He saw Jenny Fox, the nurse practitioner. She was very attentive and listened to all of his concerns. Her nurse, Jade, was amazing. She took care of my dad like he was her dad. I would highly recommend this practice!
This visit was completely different from all of my previous visits. This time Everybody displayed a great fun attitude, and we're very pleasant and effecient. Dr Volz's bed side manner was very cordial and actually fun. I don't know what has changed or why, but keep it up. Great visit!
This was one of the best office visits I have ever had. Nikki was very professional, so very supportive and so compassionate. She took the time to answer my questions and also my wife's. We would recommend Nikki to anyone we know. She explained the situation with confidence and we felt very secure with her. Thank you to Urology of Virginia for having such a wonderful PA in their office.
The process to get an appointment was a lengthy phone call (approx. an hour). Then, there wasn't an appointment for 2 months. This part of my experience was not efficient at all. On the day of my appointment, I arrived a little early with apprehension about my service and wait time. This is where Urology of VA. really shined. My apprehension quickly faded when I was immediately checked in and taken to an examination room. Then, moments later, the doctor arrived. He was pleasant, professional, and truly cared for my health needs. Additionally, he was intimately knowledgeable in regards to TriCare pharmacy procedures which completely streamlined the prescription process. Please repair your appointment process and this organization could be the most efficient practices in your field.
Was seen by Ingrid Ortiz, NP. She was very informative and friendly. Suggest she identify other personnel in attendance. Also, recommend a written feedback be provided of the results of the visit. I later called back to request further information, which I did receive, and very appreciative of the scanned information.
Due to the narrow parking spaces, my car was hit and damaged when someone parked next to me. This experience had a negative impact on my experience at Urology of VA. Thankfully, the person who hit me left contact information and my car was repaired at a local body shop, paid for by the person’s insurance. The new paint is noticeably brighter compared to the otherwise impeccable 6 year old paint (my car is a 2016 white Accord). Otherwise, the support staff, nurses, doctors and trainees were excellent.
Very satisfied with my visit. My doctor explained everything to me in a language that I could understand and was very concern about my well-being. That meant a lot to me. I never known a more caring and professional service. I would recommend them to all my family and friends.
Very efficient, helpful, and friendly staff provides personable service. The doctor is always timely in relation to the appointment time. I find the explanations to be presented in a complete manner that is easily understood and I do not feel being talked down to. I have confidence in Dr. Young. The only negative is the ability to get through on a phone.
Told Dr.Liu, today 3/31 the first biopsy that I would give him a 10. the test on 3/17, I would give him a 15. I had no side efforts of any kind. very happy with Dr Liu, just the distance from Suffolk, tolls, fuel, 20 miles. Will now be seen in Suffolk, 2.6 miles, no tolls, fraction of fuel.
One year follow-up from surgery by Dr. Kelly to remove a 3.7cm stag horn kidney stone from my 90 year old Mother. Appointment was with PA Brook Novell who was terrific. She carefully explained the results of an ultrasound performed as part of the follow-up appointment and assured my Mother that she is doing great!
I had a urodynamic test at the University of Virginia (UVA) on 02/28/2022. When my Urologist (Dr. Mark Schmidt, excellent physician, caring and extremely compassionate) in Roanoke, VA wanted to send me to UVA for this test my mind was filled with a degree of fear and a prayer of hope for an answer to my urological problems. I read several articles and the pre-procedure literature so I was aware of what all was going to happen. When I first was screened for COVID-19 at the front door by two people they showed where I was to initially register and then sent to the floor for the urology clinic and I checked in at the urology desk by two amazing women who set the tone and made me feel welcome. The test was scheduled at 2 pm and it was just after 12 pm and we, my wonderful wife drove me, gave ourselves extra time to get there to be ready. I waited in the car with my wife and I got a call at 1:12 saying they were ready for me, As I was taken to the suite by a member of their team she started
This was a follow-up to Uro Lift surgery 1/14/22. I filled out all of the questions on line (except for ED questions, which aren't applicable) beforehand, yet the tablet the lady handed me required me to duplicate all of that work. Also, since you expect a urine sample every time, you should explain the reason why. If it is not medically necessary, I don't want to be bothered with this anxiety inducing practice. Dr. Katie was very nice, professional, and knowledgeable. It is these other issues that bother me. I don't think I need yet another post-op visit in July. I am not a "customer for life". I just wanted the Uro Lift which is now done and had the post-of visit.
I received excellent care from Doctor Rawls and his staff. He listened to my concerns, addressed my issues in a personable and professional manner. I had to make some adjustments in my appointment timing and the Urology of Virginia staff were very considerate and accommodating. It all made for a successful visit and treatment. I am very pleased with the visit and treatment, excellent care.
